This Privacy Policy explains how Trainr ("we", "our", or "the app") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Trainr mobile application. By using Trainr, you agree to the practices described below.

Who we are

Trainr is operated by the developer of Trainr, based in the Netherlands. For any privacy-related questions, contact us at newtonsykesapi@gmail.com.

Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information to provide and improve the app:

• Account information: When you sign in with Apple, we receive an identifier and, if you choose to share it, your email address (which may be a private Apple relay address). We do not receive your Apple password.
• Profile and fitness data: Information you enter in the app, such as your name, age, weight, height, training goals, workout logs, nutrition entries, and water intake.
• Health and activity data: With your explicit permission, Trainr reads activity data from Apple Health (HealthKit), including active energy, exercise minutes, stand hours, step count, and walking/running distance. With your permission, Trainr may also write completed workouts and runs back to Apple Health. This data is used only to display your activity inside the app and is never sold or used for advertising.
• Location data: During outdoor run tracking, the app accesses your device location to record your route, distance, and pace. Location is only accessed while you are actively recording a run.
• Usage data: Basic technical and diagnostic information to keep the app running reliably.

How we use your information

• To provide core features: workout planning, nutrition tracking, run tracking, activity rings, and social groups.
• To sync your data across your devices and back it up securely.
• To power AI coaching features that generate training, nutrition, and recovery guidance based on the information you provide.
• To enable optional social features such as friends, groups, leaderboards, and shared achievements.
• To maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the app.

How your data is stored

Your data is stored using Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, and Storage), a cloud platform operated by Google. Data is transmitted securely and protected by access rules that restrict your data to your own account. Some data, such as group memberships and shared activities, is visible to other members of groups you join.

AI features

When you use AI coaching features, the relevant information you provide (such as your goals, workout history, or questions) is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate a response. This data is processed solely to produce your coaching output and is not used to train AI models. See Anthropic's privacy policy for details.

Third-party services

Trainr relies on the following third-party services, each with their own privacy practices:

• Google Firebase — authentication, database, and storage.
• Anthropic (Claude API) — AI coaching features.
• Apple — Sign in with Apple and HealthKit.

Apple Health (HealthKit) data

Trainr never uses HealthKit data for advertising or marketing, never sells it, and never shares it with third parties. HealthKit data is used only to display your activity within the app. You can revoke Trainr's access to Apple Health at any time in the iOS Settings app under Privacy & Security → Health.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You can delete your account and associated data from within the app, or by contacting us at newtonsykesapi@gmail.com. As a user in the European Union, you also have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal data is removed from our active systems, though some information may persist in backups for a limited period before being permanently erased.

Children's privacy

Trainr is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the revised policy.
